Caring for a piece made to last
A well-made piece asks for little. A few quiet habits, and the occasional visit to our bench, keep gold bright and stones secure for decades.
Small habits, worn in
Put jewelry on last, after fragrance and cosmetics, and take it off first. Perfume, hairspray and household cleaners dull gold and can loosen the seat of a stone over time.
Store each piece apart, in its pouch or the box it arrived in, so nothing rubs against a softer stone. Wipe it now and then with a soft, dry cloth to lift the day's oils.
Take rings off for the gym, the garden and the washing-up. Gold is soft by nature, and it wears where the hand works hardest.

- Our gold is 18-karat — seventy-five percent pure — chosen for its warm color and its strength under daily wear. Every piece carries the Armenian assay-office hallmark and its fineness mark, struck into the metal.
- The stones
- We set diamonds, colored stones and pearls chosen to live a lifetime in a piece. Each has its own temperament: diamonds are hard, yet they can chip on a sharp knock; emeralds and opals are softer and ask for gentle handling; pearls dislike acids and dryness, and like to be worn.

Bring any Avagyans piece back to us and we will clean it by hand, gently and only when it is needed, check every setting, and re-finish it where the design allows. It is part of the Avagyans Standard, offered for as long as the piece is worn.
When to send a piece in
If a stone feels loose, or turns in its setting.
If a clasp no longer closes with a clean click.
If the surface has dulled beyond what a soft cloth restores.
